Community Involvement & Sustainable Dentistry
Community Involvement:
Dr. Fry and Dr. Maragos believe that quality dental care should be accessible to everyone. Each year, they provide comprehensive care at no charge to disabled, elderly, and medically-compromised patients through Dental Lifeline Network's Donated Dental Services program. Dr. Fry regularly treats patients at the Chicago Dental Society Foundation Clinic in Wheaton, which provides pro-bono dentistry to low-income patients across Chicagoland; he also currently serves on its Board of Managers.
We also strive to increase awareness of professions in the dental field for historically underrepresented groups. Dr. Fry serves as a mentor for Diversity in Dentistry, a national nonprofit that seeks to increase the number of diverse dentists. He regularly presents about dental careers to Chicago Public Schools students as a panelist for the Chicago Area Health Education program. He also enjoys speaking with elementary and middle school students--it's never too early to start talking about taking care of teeth!
Sustainable dentistry: sustainability is one of our practice's core values. We are committed to providing exceptional dental care while reducing the environmental impact of our practice. Dr. Fry has been committed to this work for a long time--he founded the Eco Educators student group in dental school to bring awareness of sustainability issues to fellow students, faculty, and staff at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry. He was selected as a Speaker on the Rise at the 2022 American Dental Association convention in Houston for his presentation about sustainable dentistry. Here are some of the ways we are making La Grange Dental Studio a little greener:
- We use reusable supplies, rather than disposable ones, wherever possible while maintaining the highest standards of sterilization and cleanliness
- We use local and domestic manufacturers and suppliers to reduce our practice's transportation footprint
- We limit waste waste of supplies and materials, including paper and water use
